Preparing human testing

November 1, 2024

After several years of hard work and numerous animal tests, we are confident enough in our approach to start concrete preparations for first-in-human testing of our implant. The process will have several steps: we will first do short-term testing of the electrode arrays and then move gradually towards a full long-term test of the entire system. Dr. Lara Merken is joining our team in the new role of clinical trial manager to coordinate these efforts. Thanks again to VLAIO for supporting these efforts!

StimChip - Tapeout completed!

October 1, 2024

We are happy to announce that the second generation of our neurostimulator chip has been taped out by our project partner KU Leuven. It is a heavily upscaled version of an earlier design that was successfully tested last year. The chip will now be manufactured by TSMC and will be ready for integration in our system early in 2025. It will be used in the first fully implantable version of our system, which will allow to address over 2000 microelectrodes in the visual cortex. Picture is for illustration only, the actual design is still confidential!

StimChip Project Commenced

November 1, 2023

We are proud to announce we've entered in a collaboration with prof. Wim Dehaene of the MICAS research group of KU Leuven, Belgium.
